When the History of Ogbomoso is tracing in the future, the beautiful name of Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala, the retired Police Officer of high repute cannot be overemphasized. Born to the Family of Late Pa Joshua Opadoyin Alao Akala & Late Deaconess Deborah Adeboyin of Akala’s Compound in 3 rd of June, 1950. In the Ancient City of Ogbomoso.
He attended the famous Baptist. Day School, Osupa. Thereafter, He proceeded to Ghana where He attended the Kamina Barracks middle School. 5 th Battalions of infantry & also the Government Technical College both in Tamale, Nothern Region in Ghana. Young Bayo later, back home, & still progress in his education carrier. He then proceeded to Ogbomoso High School, Ogbomoso & came out in flying colour in 1972.
Otunba Alao-Akala thereafter had a stint as a Classroom Teacher at the Bapt. Day Modern Sch., Ogbomoso, before enlisting in the Nigeria Police as a Cadet Inspector in June 1974. He attended the Nigeria Police, Ikeja, for his training. He was also at the Metropolitan Police training, Pell Center, Henden, London, & the Administrative Staff College [ASCON] , Topo, Badagry in 1985. He was at the Command & Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State, The Institution of Training of Senior Military & Para-Military Personel, as well as the top Echelon of the Public Services, from where he bagged the prestigious[PSC].
After a distinguished & Meritorious career in the Nigeria Police Force which saw him serving in various capacity ranging from Station Officer, Divisional Police Officer, Area Commander& Staff Officer Logistics and Supplies. He retired as an assistant Commissioner of Police[ACP] in 1995. He was a detribalized Police Officer who used his position to establish relationship across the Country. After His Retirement in the Nigeria Police, He then came to Ogbomoso, His Home Town, to join Politics, which made Him to contest in 1998 for Chairmanship in Ogbomoso North Local Government, under the banner of All Peoples Party[APP] & finally won the election.
Also, in Year 2003, He was selected by Peoples Democratic Party[PDP], as a Deputy Governor to Senator Rashidi Ladoja & Ladoja won the election. This made Alao Akala to be deputy Governor of Oyo State. After the rejected of Senator Rashidi Ladoja by People Democratic Party, to contest for second term in Office, after much consultation of the Party Leader, accept OTUNBA ADEBAYO ALAO AKALA as Oyo State Gubernatorial Candidate for 2007 Gubernatorial election. After the election, the Independent National Electoral Commission[INEC] announced OTUNBA ADEBAYO ALAO AKALA JP as overall Winner of the election, which made Him to became Executive Governor of Oyo State since 2007 – 2011.
